Update from the Commanding Officer Regarding COVID-19

UPDATED 27 MARCH 2020

Cadets and Parents of 142 Mimico Squadron,

It is my sincere hope that this message finds you and your families well.

We are all living through a time of unprecedented uncertainty, and it is my wish that the cadets and other members of our squadron family can take our motto to heart; Determination. We can be determined in our commitment to social distancing and hygiene practices; we can be determined to show compassion toward others; we can be determined to be community members who reach out and offer to assist those who need support; we can be determined to stay home if we become ill; we can be determined in maintaining friendships using technology while we can’t be physically close. Cadets: How else can you show your determination in these trying times?

Upon direction from the National Cadet and Junior Rangers Support Group (Natl CJCR Sp Gp) and in order to keep members of 142 Squadron and our surrounding community safe, the following are effective immediately:

1. All training activities at 142 Mimico Squadron are canceled until at least 30 April 2020.

2. All planned March Break activities are canceled. The trip to the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum trip will be rescheduled once the situation normalizes.

3. All public fundraising activities (including Tagging) are suspended until further notice.

4. All exchanges, trips, and training opportunities requiring international travel up to the end of summer are canceled.

Although we will not be meeting in person for quite some time… Please stay connected! Any further updates from the DND chain of command will be communicated through the cadet flight commanders as well as e-mails, the website, and our Facebook group.
