OCTOBER RECAP

Hello all! We have had a packed October with lots of fun training and activities. The month started off strong with a Community Service Day. The cadets spent a day at the park cleaning up the area and contributing to the cleanliness of the environment, making it cleaner and better place for all individuals and living things.

Next up, we have promotions! There were selection boards that happened for cadets applying to be Flight Sergeants and above, which included the cadets to obtain references, as well as conduct an interview and more in order to showcase their skills and capabilities to take on leadership positions. Congratulations to all the cadets who obtained their new ranks!

Following this, it’s everyone’s favourite event of the year- The Field Training Exercise (FTX)!! Many cadets attended the FTX where they learned basic survival skills. The days were packed with learning, fun, and team building exercises- allowing cadets to build their friendships and learn how to work together in a different environment. A special thanks to the senior cadets who worked hard to create the lesson plans, and to everyone who helped make this happen!

On October 25th, the cadets had the opportunity to go to Winona Ranges to attend the ADA Tri Elemental CAF Engagement Day, where the event reinforced Canadian Air Force (CAF) activities and gave the cadets an opportunity to meet different regiments from 32 Brigade or 31Brigade.

Finally, as the spooky season comes to an end, we finish October with a fan favourite day- Halloween!! The cadets had an eventful night where they had the opportunity to dress up and have some fun with their other fellow cadets by completing different activities!

Congratulations on a successful October! November will be an even greater month!

NOVEMBER EVENTS

November is a month filled with events. As we all know, Remembrance Day is happening in November and to help out, cadets have the opportunity to assist with poppy distribution and attending the Remembrance Day ceremony- mandatory for ALL cadets.

 POPPY DISTRIBUTION NOVEMBER 2, 7-8 2025

Poppies are a symbol of Remembrance and a hope for a peaceful future. They are worn every November to commemorate the service and sacrifices made by the fallen veterans who wanted to make the world a better place.

Every year, the Canadian Legion has a poppy campaign that go to Veterans and their families to honour the sacrifices they have made. Our squadron works closely with the Flight Lieutenant David Hornell V C Legion. The Legion has always welcomed us in with warm arms, and have allowed us to use the space when needed. They have also provided great support to our squadron. Poppy distribution allows us to help the Legion and help them in supporting a good cause.

Participating in poppy distribution is our way of giving back to the Legion, and it will also allow them to continue their meaningful work and contributions for an important cause
