October has been a busy month- from our Community Service Day, to the Fall FTX, our first CO’s Parade of the Training year and The Halloween Cavalcade, there has been much going on!
OCTOBER RECAP
Community Service Day
The Cadets had the opportunity to give back to the community and helped clean up one of our local parks! One of the aims of the Air Cadet program is to develop citizenship and leadership. This clean up gave cadets a first hand experience of giving back to their communities and helping the park stay clean for all to enjoy! Thank you to all the cadets who participated and helped make a difference to our local community.
““This Saturday October 3rd, cadet volunteers from 142 Mimico Squadron participated in a community clean up of Col. Samuel Smith Park.
During the scavenger hunt, our cadets had the opportunity to build their teamwork and leadership skills while having fun!
This event was a great success! Almost 200 hectares of land was cleaned from the hard work of our own cadets.
Great job for everyone who attended!””

Fall FTX
Thursday Training Nights consist of Cadets and Officers primarily teaching in classrooms in an enclosed building. What’s unqiue about Field Training Exercises are that they happen outside. The Cadets had.a chance to have a change in scernary and learn skills that are not traditionally taught in classrooms and take on a more hands on approach. The Cadets learned various skills which include building fires, shelters, and many other survival skills. They also had a chance to showcase their leadership skills and had an opportunity to interact with their other fellow cadets outside of traditional training- where they worked together to solve different sceneriors and complete tasks,

CO’s Parade
The Commanding Officer’s Parade is a parade that happens once a month. This is a traditional parade where the Commanding Officer of the Unit peronally inspects the unit, along side other members and is also a time where promotions and recognitions happens. This CO’s parade consisted of the new Recruit Cadets getting sworned in, and many promtions. Congratulations on everyone who obtained their new ranks, and the new recruits officially joining the squadron! You all worked hard and it’s been seen and recognized by many.
Halloween Cavalcade
Nothing more relaxing than a day to take a break from normal routine and to have even more fun at the Squadron! The Halloween Cavalcade was a chance for cadets to dress up in costumes and have a night filled with team building activities and games! The cadets had a wonderful time and it was a complete success!
